About the ICAR2025 Program

ICAR2025 will be an in-person meeting!  No virtual participation options will be available.  The meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada will include oral and poster sessions, plenary talks, ISAR awardee lectures and several special sessions and networking events.  All accepted posters will have the option (although highly encouraged) to upload a virtual poster to the online platform which will be available to registered attendees.  All poster award competition participants will be required to upload an electronic poster prior to the conference.

Abstract Details

We welcome short oral presentations and posters describing the activity of well-defined chemical compounds for the treatment of viral diseases of humans and vertebrate animals and on the protective activity of vaccines for humans.  Reports of the antiviral effect of a novel small-molecule drug are encouraged to include chemical structures, as long as such reporting does not negatively impact the potential development of novel antivirals.  Claims of in vitro or in vivo efficacy of a drug or vaccine must be supported by appropriate statistical analysis.  We discourage the submission of abstracts reporting the antiviral activity of unpurified natural products, or of partially purified substances.  Abstracts claiming an antiviral effect of homeopathic products or other highly diluted preparations, or which fail to clearly identify the biological ingredient or molecule responsible for the antiviral activity of an experimental therapy, will be rejected.  Presentations on antiseptics with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity will not be considered.  We also discourage talks or posters on silicodocking studies or other computer-based predictions of antiviral activity that are not supported by data from biological assays.

Submission tracks:

    Presentation Options

All presenters (oral and/or posters) must plan to present onsite in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    • SHORT ORAL PRESENTATIONS -  There are a limited number of short oral presentations available.  Abstracts must be submitted by the November 15th deadline to be considered for an oral presentation.  Short oral presentations are 10-minutes in length (8-minutes talk; 2-minutes Q&A).

      Abstract Submission Process

NEW THIS YEAR - We are using a new abstract management system!  When first logging in, you will need to create an account.  You will be able to use this single account to submit abstracts for any of the submission phases.

      • Abstracts must be submitted online and will not be accepted in any other manner.
      • Abstract title is limited to 250 characters.  Abstract body is limited to 250 words. The system will automatically impose these restrictions when you enter your abstract.

      • During the submission process you will be able to indicate your interest in participating in the Poster Awards CompetitionPechaKucha Competition and Travel Awards.

      • Oral presentations will be selected only from the initial submission period, which ends on November 15th. The site will reopen on November 20th and remain open through January 17th, but acceptance during this period will only be for poster presentations. Poster submissions during this time are still eligible to compete for the Poster Awards (indicate interest during the submission process).
      • To be considered for an oral presentation, the PechaKucha Competition or a Travel Award, you MUST submit an abstract by the November 15th deadline.
      • If you need to apply for a visa and need early notification, you MUST submit an abstract by October 25th.  Abstracts submitted after October 25th will be sent notifications on December 16th.

      Late-breaking Abstract Submissions

A limited number of oral and poster presentations will be reserved for abstracts containing the most recent data with cutting edge implications and impact.  The submission site will open on January 27, 2025 for late-breaking abstracts and close on February 12, 2025.

      • A late-breaking abstract submission for an oral or poster should contain late-breaking, high quality research for which no preliminary data were available at the time of the prior abstract submission deadlines. The research must be new and of sufficient scientific importance to merit special consideration after the standard abstract deadlines.
      • Abstracts that have already been accepted for ICAR2025 are not eligible for consideration.
      • Late-breaking abstracts cannot be a revision of an abstract submitted prior to the submission deadline.
      • Late-breaking abstracts are not eligible to participate in the PechaKucha or Poster Awards competitions.
      • Upon acceptance, no presenter changes are allowed.
