After careful consideration of the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) overseas and in the United States, the International Society of Antiviral Research Board of Directors have made the difficult but important decision to make ICAR 2020 an online event this year and cancel the live event in Seattle.
ISAR has been monitoring the coronavirus situation with the health, safety, and well-being of our guests in mind. The ISAR Board of Directors arrived at this difficult decision after consulting with speakers, vendors, exhibitors, and other Meeting participants, and gathering information from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Washington State Department of Health, the King County Department of Public Health, and other public health authorities. Ultimately, many countries, agencies, and institutions have now issued travel bans and there are increasing concerns that travel to a large group gathering like ICAR is not advisable from a personal and public health standpoint.
While we are disappointed that we will not be together in-person with our community this year, we are excited to host ICAR 2020 as an online experience. Through this virtual meeting experience, we look forward to providing world-class education and celebrating the achievements of our awardees as we had planned to do in Seattle.

We will keep all ICAR 2020 participants updated on plans for the virtual meeting. We also ask for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to setup the virtual program and to address questions and provide additional information to our participants and guests.
Kind regards,
Johan Neyts (President) & Kara Carter (President-Elect) on behalf of the Society Officers and Board of Directors
